Romanian companies want to increase investments
Most companies in Romania intend to enlarge investments and the number of employees by more than 50% in the next five years, according to a study made by the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham) after interviewing 250 CEOs in Romania.
Answers show that 57.9% companies want to increase investments in Romania by more than 50% in the next five years and 38.4% will maintain their investments at the same level as now. 64% of respondents want to hire by over 50% more persons, while the rest will maintain the present level.
Decisive factors in investments are local demand for products and services offered by the company, the quality of business and changes in point of competition on the market where they perform.
The question about the evolution of business in Romania was answered by 62% of companies that performances were as expected, 17.2% below expectations and 20% of investors had results beyond expectations.
On the other hand, the most important competitive advantages in Romania are trained labour force, a large market, the strategic position, high growth potential, IT and agriculture, a pleasant environment. At the same time the main barriers for investors are the legislative frame, infrastructure, legislative instability, lack of predictability and corruption. Thus the measures to be implemented by the government are increased decision transparency, modernized tax collection system, curbing corruption, improving the public tender system.
